Reposting for clarity and new info. Something seems to have changed recently. I fixed a couple MIDI issues that appeared in Logic out of nowhere, but channel names have stopped showing up on my Stream Deck+XL scribble strips, yet the associated dials still control the correct faders. To be clear, this was occurring before I fixed the MIDI issues so nothing I did caused this. The strips are set to #LCDU# so they take the name from the channel strip in Logic. Other text will show up so it’s not a Stream Deck issue. Yes I’ve tried restarting everything.
M4 Max Mac Studio, macOS 26.7, Logic Pro 12.3.1 (rolling back to 12.3 didn’t fix it), 7.6 on the Stream Deck (didn’t work on 7.5 either), and 4.3.0.9 for the plugin.
It’s not about Apple making changes; it’s about the commands you send to Logic. The LCD strip on a Mackie device can display a number of things, including channel names. Since Logic is only sending space characters to the LCD strip, it is probably being instructed to display something other than channel names.
Try adding a button with the Mackie command “VPot Assign: Pan/Surround” and then press it. That might bring Logic back to the “display track name mode”. It’s a long shot, but fiddling with the “VPot Assign” functions is the only thing I can suggest, since those functions control what is displayed on the LCD strip.
Well it was showing the names properly before and as I said I did not change any configuration settings. I guess I will just manually name them if you don’t have a fix for this function because the associated dials still work properly.
Logic is sending space characters; I can’t “fix” that in the plugin.
Have you tried the things I suggested?
As I mentioned, the display is configurable using the “VPot Assign” functions. Since Logic is sending only space characters, it is configured to display something that currently has no information. The “VPot Assign” functions are the built-in functions (in the Mackie Control protocol) to configure the DAW for what to send to the LCD display. I mentioned “VPot Assign: Pan/Surround,” but I don’t think that’s the correct function. Try “VPot Assign: Track”; that should display the track names.
I don’t know why it has changed; I can only suggest means to get it back to what it was.
Or nvm. Updated to 26.7.1 and now after the restart (which I had tried restarts before) it works as it did before, taking the track names correctly. Hooray for dumb inconsistent issues lol
